Japan Meets India Summit (March 20-21, 2025) Gandinagar, India

Prof. Ohta attended the summit “Japan Meets India” hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) on March 20-21, 2025 and gave three presentations about Hokkaido University, study in Hokkaido University, and thermal transistors.

The main objective of the summit is to increase the number of Indian students studying Japan. Compared to Chinese students, Indian students are very less only ~1/30. The most popular country to study abroad is US, then Canada, UK, EU, and Australia. And the biggest problem is Japanese language…

Recently, due to re-growing topic “Semiconductors”, relationship between Taiwan and Japan becomes strong. Similarly, since there are several semiconductor foundries near Gandinagar, relationship between Taiwan and India becomes strong. Therefore, now it is a chance to connect each other and make triangle relationship of Japan-Taiwan-India strong. This may accelerate the number of Indian students studying in Japan.
